January 16, 2015 (Friday) – Deadline for the Winter issue of Ridge Report

January 18th (Sunday), 12PM, Potluck Lunch & "DINOSTAMPEDE" viewing. On January 18 at the Discovery Center, the Florissant Scientific Society will be having a potluck lunch at 12:00 and then watch "DINOSTAMPEDE," a movie starring our own Martin Lockley and other dinosaur trackers around the world as they unravel the mystery of the Lark Quarry tracksite in Australia. March 18, 2015 (Wednesday). Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Annual Meeting. Dinner followed by election of officers and board members followed by an awards ceremony for outstanding volunteers. 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. (temtative). Location TBA.

March 25th Volunteer Training: Everything Dinosaur Session 12 (Wednesday) 10AM Would you like to volunteer with us but need a refresher on dinosaurs? Join us once a week for a series of training sessions between Jan 6th through April 2nd where dinosaurs are the focus! Contact: Amber_Cain@dinoridge.org. March 23rd-27th  Spring Break Dinosaur Ridge Explorers 10AM-12PM and 1PM-3PM Join us for daily programs over Spring Break! Two sessions are available per day this week for fun-filled activities and hands-on exploration of Dinosaur Ridge! Please register and put down a $5 deposit to hold your spot with Erin LaCount at tours@dinoridge.org. Price per session: $25 for members; $30 for non-members. Lunch and snack not provided

May 9, 2015 (Saturday), DDD-Boy Scout Day (for Cubs and Webelos also). Scouts can earn the Geology Merit Badge, the geology academic pin or the geology belt loop. Scouts must register. Public is welcome. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

May 30, (Saturday) 7:30am-4:30pm, Earth Science Teachers Program at Dinosaur Ridge (offered through the American Association of Petroleum Geologists). If you are a K-12 educator looking for an excellent opportunity to obtain continuing education credits, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in cooperation with the Colorado School of Mines is offering 2 Continuing Education classes to be held at Dinosaur Ridge on May 30th. Cost $35 (includes AAPG Convention admission either June 1 or June 2. For more information and registration, visit the AAPG theAnnual Convention and Exposition website at www.ACE.AAPG.org or contact AAPG at: 1-800-364-2274. Information can also be obtained from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG)website at www.rmag.org, office contact at:  303-573-8621.  Click here for more information.

June 15-19th Summer Camp: Junior Paleontologists 9AM-3PM This camp focuses primarily on the fossils that are found in and around the Morrison and Golden Fossil Areas.  Your campers will explore, observe, map, draw, and measure dinosaur bones and tracks, fossil palm fronds and other plant impressions, and a plethora of other local fossils and prehistoric evidence to learn more about prehistoric Colorado. Ages 8-12. Registration information: http://dinoridge.org/summercamp.html

June 22-26th Summer Camp: Junior Geologists 9AM-3PM This camp will focus on the local rocks and formations of Colorado’s Front Range, as well as what we can learn from rocks and minerals.  With interactives and hands-on activities, campers will get a chance to explore, experiment, observe, measure, collect and even mine rocks and minerals to help them visualize and learn about Earth materials.
