Our Junior Counselor program is a hands-on volunteer opportunity to assist with all aspects of the camp day, including preparing science and outdoor activities, working with small groups of campers on lessons, leading games and crafts, and helping younger campers with transitions.   Junior Counselors will receive mentoring from camp leaders and a certificate of leadership upon completion of their camp week.

The responsibilities of Junior Counselors will include:

  • Participating with enthusiasm in all parts of the camp day
  • Helping to plan and teach science lessons, crafts, games and nature exploration
  • Assisting Counselors during preparation and cleanup times
  • Modeling a positive, flexible attitude and showing initiative where needed
  • Helping younger campers with activities
  • Showing a love for being outside, science, and having fun with others!

There will be two openings for Junior Counselors during each week of summer camp. Junior Counselors must be able to attend two full week of camp from at least 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Interested 14-18 year olds will need to apply and interview for their position. Selected Junior Counselors must sign a contract and be able to attend two evening training sessions in the Spring.

Then, please email or mail the application and reference forms to the contact information found below. The first round of applications will close April 15, 2018, and selected applicants will receive information about scheduling an interview at that time.
