Visiting the Ridge
Dinosaur Ridge is open for drop-in visitation every day of the year. There is no charge to visit our Visitor Center or to view the fossil sites on the Ridge, which are all outdoors. The Dinosaur Ridge Visitor Center is at the bottom of the Ridge
Teachers who would like to schedule a guided tour of Dinosaur Ridge for their class should follow the link above or below for "Guided Tours". By following the link, you will learn how to schedule your visit, what to expect during your tour, and more information and activities that you can use in your classroom.
With the closing of Alameda Parkway, the ridge itself can only be visited on foot, by bicycle, or by riding the Vanosaurus which loops the ridge approximately every half-hour. There is a charge of $3.00/person for riding the van. Special accommodations can be made for handicap access to the ridge. Inquire at the Visitor's Center.

There are several options that you have when planning a visit to Dinosaur Ridge. Below, several options are briefly described. For more specific information on any of these options, please follow the appropriate links.
Self-Guided Visitation
Self-Guided visitation is the most popular way to explore the features on Dinosaur Ridge. Admission to both the Ridge and the Visitor Center are free of charge. However, if you support our efforts in preservation and education, we gladly accept donations. If you bring just your family, or a group of 15 or less, there is no need to RSVP. The Ridge is open from sun-up to sun-down, and the Visitor Center is open seven days a week.
Guided Tours
Want to learn more about the tracks, fossils, and geology of Dinosaur Ridge? A guided tour is the perfect learning experience for your school group, Scout group, or family. Guided tours are available with advance reservations. The cost for guided tours is $3.00 per person, with academic organizations receiving a discount.
