Corral Bluffs | Saturday, June 19
Journey to the Corral Bluffs in Colorado Springs and join us on an exciting trek through time and learn about what life was like after the extinction of dinosaurs!
We will begin at the K-Pg boundary and walk through the stratigraphy up to 800,000 years after the Dinosaur extinction. Along the way, we’ll discuss early mammals, and we’ll see where in the strata/time each one appears, along with the plants that were also evolving. We will also walk through one location where the earth’s magnetic poles reversed. We will find evidence of the ecosystem at the time of the earth’s recovery in Colorado Springs.
About the hike: The hike 4-mile hike is of moderate difficulty due to there being no trails. We will be joined by a local guide who will lead us through the area. The hike will take around four hours from start to finish and attendees can NOT leave the hike early. Requirements: Attendees print and bring signed copies of the waivers (Dinosaur Ridge Waiver | Corral Bluffs Waiver) to hike. Attendees must have the proper attire such as long pants and closed-toe sturdy shoes. Attendees who do not have closed-toed shoes and long pants will not be allowed to hike! The nothing requirements are in place because of rattlesnakes. Register today!
