SCFD Free Day: Commemorate Colorado’s Sesquicentennial Dino Ridge Style!

The same year Colorado was joining the United States of America (1876), dinosaur fossils were found on the hogback between Red Rocks and Denver! Explore Colorado's natural history on this SCFD Free Day!

2026 is Colorado’s 150th anniversary, also known as its sesquicentennial! You’re invited to explore a part of the state famous for its natural history just 20 minutes west of Denver.

Today enjoy FREE ENTRY to both the main visitor center Exhibit Hall, the Deep Time Detour Exhibition at the Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center, and $5 off guided bus tours.

For this occasion, the Main Visitor Center will also be the site of an outdoor Paleo ArtFest in the parking lot! Local artists will display their works and visitors can buy art to support those artists.

Have a fun and educational outdoor/indoor experience that is great for all ages and see the place where Colorado’s state fossil, the Stegosaurus, was uncovered 150 years ago!
