Enjoy an exclusive presentation with Alaskan artist Ray Troll and the Smithsonian’s Director of the National Museum of Natural History, Kirk Johnson, as they share about the newly released 2nd edition of their popular illustrated book “Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway: An Epoch Tale of a Scientist and an Artist on the Ultimate 5,000-mile Paleo Road Trip!” Seating is limited for this intimate sit-down with these entertaining collaborators with time for Q&A, and your $100 ticket price includes a book ($30 value). Proceeds for this event benefit Friends of Dinosaur Ridge’s education and fossil protection missions. Then at 6:30 p.m. we will walk across the hall into the Mines Museum where you can enjoy some nibbles and drinks, stroll through the exquisite exhibits, and have your book signed by Kirk and Ray. Additional merchandise will be available for purchase, as well as beer and wine. Free Parking is available in the adjacent structure starting at 5 p.m.

Ray Troll is a legendary artist from Alaska who created a beloved style of illustrated storytelling featured in numerous books including the newly published second edition of "Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway" (2024) a collaboration with his paleontologist pal Dr. Kirk Johnson, Director of the world’s largest natural history collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. The pair are in town and kindly agreed to share some of the wonderfully entertaining stories and artwork from their fossil hunting adventures in the West. Proceeds benefit Friends of Dinosaur Ridge.
