Travel back 100 million to 150 million years in time to learn about the fascinating lives and deaths of dinosaurs through their ancient environments, tracks, and fossils!
This audio tour is narrated by Dinosaur Ridge educators and provides detailed interpretation geared towards adults and teens., but children may also enjoy learning new vocabulary and information. For children ages 5-11, consider our Family Audio Tour and/or our Family Field Guide in English or Spanish to complete activities along the trail (copies are also available for purchase in our gift shop).
The 2.5 mile walk along a paved trail takes about 2 hours if you engage with every audio stop, and is uphill for half of the walk. No water or facilities are available along this trail so be prepared! Bring water, and sunscreen, and dress for changing weather.

Join former Dinosaur Ridge Summer Campers Daniel and Elena on a fun and educational family adventure across Dinosaur Ridge! These friends will lead you on a prehistoric journey through nearly 58 million years of the Age of Dinosaurs. You’ll explore each of the main sites to learn about geological and paleontological history and see evidence of ancient environments and creatures!

Triceratops Trail Audio Tour

Travel back 68-million years to a fossil site from the last part of the Cretaceous – the literal end of an Era, the last period in the Age of Dinosaurs! This tour is geared towards adults, but children may also enjoy learning new earth science vocabulary and information.
This tour takes place along a 1.5 mile gravel hiking trail in Golden*. Learn about the geology, clay mining, and tracks and traces of dinosaurs, prehistoric birds, mammals, insects, and invertebrates that once lived in this area. The site is also famous for palm fronds and other leaf and plant impressions left behind when this was a delta-like, wet environment.
Retired geologist Bob Mason narrates as you explore the geological and paleontological history of this fascinating and important site.
*Triceratops Trail is located in Golden, CO a few miles north of Dinosaur Ridge. For parking details, click HERE. No water or facilities are available on this trail so be prepared! Bring water, sunscreen, and dress for changing weather. Plan on about an hour to complete this tour.

Purchase the tour to receive an access code vial email. After unlocking the tour with the code, click the “Download” button at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Downloading ahead of time while connected to Wi-Fi is recommended for best functionality.
Step 2: Get a Map!
For Dinosaur Ridge audio tours, we recommend picking up a trail map at the Main Visitor Center before heading to the East Gate Kiosk (preferred starting point). Or, tour in reverse from the West Gate Kiosk near our Martin G. Lockley Discovery Center.
Step 3: Listen

Look for interpretive sign titles and symbols that match audio tour stop titles for orientation.
